My Lehnert Collection

Brief Henry G. Lehnert History

Henry (Heinrich) G. Lehnert (1838-1916) was active as a maker from 1860 - 1916. Henry and his brother Carl arrived in Boston in 1860 they both worked either for E. G. Wright or for Graves & Co. before establishing Henry Lehnert & Co.  In 1866 Henry moved to Philadelphia and started his brass musical instrument manufacturing business.

In 1875 Henry produced several new designs for the United States of America 1876 Centennial founding celebration. Most notable were his Baritones and Tubas, which rested on the musician's shoulders. This design has earned the distinction of the "Toilet Seat" design.
